14-mile Canoe Kayak Race
Racers will paddle a stunning stretch of the Mississippi and Black Rivers. This course winds through the peaceful backwaters and the main channel of the Mississippi creating a wide variety of paddling experiences. The surrounding greenery and lush bluffs make this valley the perfect home to indigenous species such as bald eagles, tundra swans, and great egrets. 4-mile Fun Paddle Sponsored by J.F. Brennan
This four-mile canoe, kayak, and SUP board race will journey around the historic Hiawatha Island. Racers will launch from the Clinton Street Boat Landing and begin downstream around the south end of the island, then head north up Richmond Bay and finish traveling down the Black River back to the landing. Paddleboard (SUP) Jousting
One-on-one jousting requires solo SUP paddlers to strategically knock the other competitors off their board. These events will use safe, padded joust sticks and jousters will be wearing helmets. *Limited quantity of watercrafts and equipment included. First come, first serve. Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga
This popular activity will be led by professional SUP yoga instructors. Participants will practice yoga on SUP boards in the water in classes scheduled on the south end of the Veterans Freedom Park in the marina. Registrants must have previous experience and knowledge in yoga practice such as sun salutations and basic yoga poses. Birding Paddling Tour Sponsored by Explore La Crosse
These paddlers will take a leisurely lap around the island on a birding tour while learning about the significance of the waterways in the Driftless Region. This educational paddle will discuss and observe regional and mirgratory birds, led by Coulee Region Audubon President Scott Puchalski. *Limited quantity of watercrafts and equipment included. Beginner Kayak Class
This class will teach proper paddling techniques with an ACA Certified Kayak Instructor, building participant confidence on the water while promoting water safety. The class will be held on Friday, July 21 before the event to encourage safe participation on event day. *Limited quantity of watercrafts and equipment included. First come, first serve. Children’s Open Paddle
Children will have fun on 15-minute paddles! First come, first serve. Canoes and kayaks, oars, and life vests included in this FREE paddle! Waivers must be signed at open paddle registration. Event staff will be on-hand to assist children.
